What is RCT?

Root Canal Treatment (RCT) is a dental procedure designed to save and repair a tooth that is severely damaged, infected, or decayed. It involves removing the infected or inflamed pulp from the inside of the tooth, cleaning and disinfecting the root canals, and then sealing them to prevent further infection. The procedure is typically performed under local anesthesia, ensuring minimal discomfort for the patient.

RCT is often recommended as an alternative to tooth extraction, allowing you to preserve your natural tooth structure. Once the procedure is complete, a dental crown is usually placed over the tooth to restore its strength and functionality, ensuring it blends seamlessly with the rest of your teeth. Root canal treatment not only alleviates pain and infection but also protects the tooth from future damage.

What are the benefits?

Root canal treatment offers significant benefits by saving your natural tooth and avoiding the need for extraction. It eliminates pain and discomfort caused by infection or severe decay, restoring normal chewing and biting function. By preserving your natural tooth, RCT helps maintain the alignment of your surrounding teeth and the overall structure of your jaw, preventing complications such as shifting teeth or bone loss.

Another key advantage is that RCT restores the appearance of your smile, especially when paired with a dental crown for added protection and aesthetics. It also prevents the spread of infection to neighboring teeth and gums, promoting better oral health. With proper care, a tooth treated with RCT can last a lifetime, making it a durable and effective solution for dental problems.
